I Survived Two Months In The Adsense Blogging World

The Adsense Blogging World

So, I am now a two-month veteran of the I Survived Two Months In The Adsense Blogging World community. I say I am a veteran and no longer a newbie, because it has been a hard fought battle to get to this point. I have learned a lot, made several mistakes, some huge, mostly small, but most of all I had to switch my perspective as a writer.

I started this by writing what I knew and what I was comfortable with. I now find myself writing about things I have absolutely no interest in, nor any previous knowledge about just to try to make money with Google adsense. I am writing huge 1000 word plus epics on the most mundane and boring things in the world.

Why?

Because these things are popular and these things have high Cost Per Click rates.

Adsense Blogging and the CPC Killer

In the world of making money online and especially writing blogs for Adsense, you are going to find that you are eventually going to battle with who you are and what you think you know against who you need to be.

Who did I think I was?

An amateur writer who has a damn opinion about everything and anything. I would scan the Internet and write about the stuff that I thought mattered like Michael Jackson’s funeral and my opinion on stuff I knew about like dogs.

Was this going to make me any real money?

I wasn’t sure. I was writing to appease a social audience and it my first two months I has over 20,000 page views, but they only translated into less than sixty dollars in money.

I also started writing for other people which made me around a hundred dollars in that same time period. The crap I wrote for other people ranged from how to get rid of ingrown toenails to how to choose the best wine refrigerator.

During this time of writing other people’s articles, i had an epiphany.

I am writing the wrong types of Adsense blogs. I needed to stop writing about what people are searching for because they might buy it, but what people are trying to find information about before they spend money.

I had finally understood the difference.

Hubpages and Adsense Blogs

So, over the last several months, I had written about 44 useless HubPage Adsense blogs that got very little traffic and made almost no money.

I was about to give up on HubPages completely when I noticed Court having a webinar that broke down exactly what he did.

So, with bated breath and a new outlook on what I was doing, I watched his webinar and decided to do it exactly as he suggested.

That is usually how I screw up. I see how people want me to do it and I kind of go off in my own direction.

And over the last two months, I have gone off in so many directions. I’ve spent time on hubs, bought close to twenty domains, fooled around with Squidoo and basically left a long trail of half-used toys dangling all over the Internet.

My Third Month in the Adsense Blog World

What’s going to happen in my third month?

It is time to tidy up all my little messes. It’s time to go back over my Adsense blogging websites and clean up all the crappy blogs. It’s time to polish up those lenses and to actually put some work on websites that are sitting there looking empty.

You see, I have finally developed a pattern to creating my Adsense blogs and I am going to use it for all my pages.

My goal is to finally make a hundred dollars in one month.

Wish me luck.

  1. Hey definitely my wishes are always there for you…Wish you a good adsense earnings…But you dont need to give up Hubpages..It will pay of well in the long term

Adsense blogs + Hubpages + Starting your own article directory is a good formula to boost your adsense earnings.

  2. Re your epiphany about social/celeb stuff like Michael Jackson – yes, eventually everyone realises that though writing and reading about celebs is fun, no one actually makes any money out of it, because people read this stuff to pass the time.

I’m pretty sure that’s why online newspapers are struggling so badly – they concentrate heavily on the celeb stuff and people read in droves, but no one clicks any of the ads…

I used to write for some of those online newspapers when I thought that was the best way to spend my time getting noticed instead of making money.

Now, I don’t even bother unless it is to get a backlink.

My life as a writer sure has changed since I started using the Internet.

What is weird is I write more about stuff I don’t like then when I used to write about what I did like.

Your Lucky! I didn’t really get noticed until about 5 months. Adsense is a combination of skill and a little luck doesn’t hurt either. Sounds like you gave up to soon.

  6. Indeed, making money online with AdSense will be a constant learning process. Nice of you to share your thoughts to us. Certainly newbies will also learn a thing or two from your experiences. I have written “out of my comfort zone” as well and sometimes the articles just do not appeal to me. Sometimes it’s also irritating that I have to research on material that I am not fond about. But you are right, we have to adhere to the preferences of the majority. So though it may not be interesting to us, we have to do it. Good luck on your AdSense journey. I am sure you will go a long way and achieve your $100 a month target.

  7. Firstly good luck in your quest for the $100 a month :) I hope you achieve it (if you haven’t already).

You hit the nail on the head with your way of thinking, however I also discovered that dragging people direct from search engines was a good way to quickly boost your adsense earnings (ad affiliate earnings). I know many people believe that 1 site per niche but to me every time you make a new site you are effectivley starting again! When I was starting new pages or sites while educating myself I put both adsense and an affiliate product on the page to monitor which one worked best to that page, people develope a style and that will attract different types of people from the keywords you use!

Once again good luck in your challange and I hope you boost your adsense earnings :)

Here is an advanced technique for promotion and link building.
